Follow the 4 tips below to perform a lung detoxification cleanse and be on the road to live a happier, healthier and a more productive active life !

 1. Don’t Smoke

Bottom line, cigarettes contain some of the most dangerous and toxic poisons there are.  In fact, they’re actually a mixture of terrible poisons such as cyanide,  Acetone that’s used in paint strippers, and toxins such as Nitrosamine that have been shown to cause cancer !

And the black tar that ends up coating the inside of your lungs is nothing more than poison that's literally choking the life out of you and stopping your body from working properly.
In fact…

  • Air sacs called alveoli are destroyed by a combination of tar, heat and smoke which leads to the extremely debilitating condition emphysema.
  • Tar and mucus accumulate in your wind pipes leading to coughing, infection and bronchitis.
  • The chemicals in cigarettes and tar enter your blood stream… causing the walls of arteries to become sticky. This collects fats and cholesterol which blocks blood supply and can lead to strokes and heart attacks
  • Tar paralyzes and destroys small hairs in your airways (cilia) that are essential in cleaning your lungs

The truth is, if you’ve been a smoker for just about any length of time… then chances are, your lungs are filled with black sticky tar. Don’t smoke, smoking is bad for your health and it’s bad for the people around you.

2. Perform Lung Cleansing Exercises

Breathing exercises can strengthen your lungs and help clear toxins. Deep breathing exercises will strength your lungs and clear your airways and deliver more nourishing oxygen to your body. Try some of these tips to help heal our lungs after smoking and increase lung capacity.

  •        Cardiovascular exercises: Running, speed walking, cycling, or work out on fitness equipment, such as a stair climber or rowing machine several times a week. Moving the large muscles in your body increases demand for oxygen and expands the lungs capacity to take in more air, keeping the respiratory system strong.
  •         Swimming: Swim laps at least once a week to give your lungs a good work out
  •         Yoga: Yoga exercises the diaphragm muscles that expand the lungs during breathing, and allows more air to be inhaled. More air in the lungs may eventually stretch the lungs and increase lung capacity. If you are not into yoga doing deep breathing exercises can also help increase lung capacity.
  •         Musical wind instrument: Playing a brass or wind instrument is a good way to exercise your lungs. The best musical instruments are a flute, clarinet, obe, tuba, trumpet or trombone. Singing may help too !

After your exercise, try and have a hot water bath. If you have access to a steam room or a sauna use it at least a few times a week for about 15 to 20 minutes. Doing these will stimulate perspiration and will help cleaning your lungs and pulmonary tract.

Warning: Consult your doctor before starting a strenuous exercise program, especially if you've been a long-term smoker. Poor lung function due to smoking transfers more of the burden of exercise to the heart and could lead to heart failure. If you have hoarseness, frequent coughing or shortness of breath, it's important to see your doctor to be checked out for lung cancer and emphysema, Edelman warns. Delayed diagnosis of either disease can negatively affect the success of treatment.

3. Reduce Your Indoor Pollution Exposure

Indoor environments can be contaminated with over 1,000 species of mold and mildew. Pet dander is a common indoor pollutant that is notorious for antagonizing allergies.

Synthetic, chemical-based cleaning products are toxic substances with toxic fumes, just check the warning label. You can make you own alternative instead. Upholstery, carpet, paint, and building materials are also all common sources of indoor pollution. A drafty house may not seem the most efficient when the electricity bill arrives but there is something to be said about the constant airflow.

4. Eat Lung Cleansing Foods

Grapes - Grapes help inhibit the release of compounds that cause inflammation on the cell lining of the lungs with the help of resveratrol, an antioxidant found in all grapes, with larger quantities in the red and purple varieties. Grape seeds are also said to reduce the severity of asthma because of the chemical proanthocyanidin when brought on by allergies.

Pineapples and Bromelin- The lungs are subject to abuse by merely living on our planet, add with the possible self-inflicted damage caused by smoking or pollutant exposure maybe from work, the lungs collect debris and become less elastic over time. The enzyme bromelin is believed to assist the lungs in moving debris and detoxing naturally.  A glass of fresh pineapple juice helps prevent the build up of mucous in the throat and lungs all while helping the lungs clear out old garbage.

Celery and Organic Sodium - Sodium is considered one of the important elements in the elimination of carbon dioxide from the body; as such a deficiency of vital organic sodium can result in bronchial and lung troubles. Get a rich source of organic sodium from celery and help the lungs perform better. Asthma sufferers’ benefit from including celery and fresh celery juice to their diet on a regular basis as it contains high levels of Vitamin C, helping to reduce inflammation in the lungs among the many benefits

Dandelions and Magnesium - Dandelion juice is rich in calcium, potassium and sodium, all beneficial to the health of the lungs. Dandelions also happen to be one of our richest plant based sources for magnesium and iron. Magnesium is a builder of the body cells, particularly the tissue of the lungs and nervous system.  However, to be operating efficiently, the magnesium salts need a sufficient amount of calcium as well. The Dandelion delivers and if you don’t have access to fresh dandelions, lettuce makes a great second choice, also rich in magnesium and calcium.

Parsnips and the Phosphorus-Chlorine Connection - Parsnips are said to enhance bronchial function, helping to diminish the severity of asthma while enhancing blood circulation within the lungs.  The phosphorus-chlorine combination is considered the reason parsnips are so great for the lungs and bronchial system.

Carrots and Vitamin A - Scientific studies of rats given high doses of Vitamin A had a lower chance of developing lung disease then those who were deprived of the nutrient, as such is has been linked to lung health. Extensive human studies suggest that a diet including a few carrots a day could cut the rate of lung cancer in half. Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, C and lycopene; great antioxidants that lower the chances of lung disease and improve overall lung health.

Cilantro and Heavy Metals - Cilantro has long been known to aid the body in removing heavy metals, the accumulation of which has been linked to lung disease as well as main other conditions affecting the body.  The chemical compounds found in cilantro loosen toxic metals from the lung tissues by binding to them.
